David Fischer Glad that Wyattxhim spoke about this - how could I sleep on Black Cilice! Esoteric Atavism is a fitting name for this record as it really sounds like from another time. This is detuned, maximally vicious sounding black metal striking with the sheer force of primal elements. The tormented vocals are extremely impressive and the cherry on top is how catchy the songs are, despite being so far from easy on the ears. Easily some of the best black metal of 2022. Towards Transcendence is hypnotising. Favorite track: Towards Transcendence.

Jordan Vauvert Esoteric Atavism, sixième album de Black Cilice, est une ode aux ténèbres les plus pures. La production, encore plus bruitiste et chaotique (l'agression sonore est comparable à celle que l'on peut trouver chez Revenant Marquis), rend le raw black metal brumeux, comme s'il provenait d'une autre dimension ; le corps damné est relégué au second plan et la voix, bien que souffrante, n'est quasiment plus compréhensible. Esoteric Atavism est une hallucination au rythme rapide en-dehors de la musique. Favorite track: Towards Transcendence.

Jono Schneider Riffs are fast furious and deeply anguished, with a guitar tone of 8th graders learning Yngwie riffs on overdriven Gorilla amps. The whole thing hurtles you along towards your doom. Singer is insane.
